To take classes at Community Television, you must be a resident of Santa Cruz County and you must be a member. To become a member, first sign up for one of our free orientations, which are offered at least once a month. Call 831-425-8848 to sign up for an orientation.

Basic Field Camera

Editing Lab

After you have taken your editing class, and been certified, you can make an appointment with an Access Facilitator to do a review and practice what you've learned.

Final Cut Pro Basics

Get Started with the basics of Final Cut Pro Digital Editing. This is a 2 part class.

MUST have Digital Editing and Mac OSX experience.

iMovie Basics/OSX

Learn basic digital editing on the Mac using iMovie. Take this before taking Final Cut Pro basics if you don't have digital editing experience. You must be familiar with Mac OSX to take this class.

Staff will demonstrate some of the basic tools and features of iMovie digital editing. This is offered during Weekend Workshops which are generally scheduled quarterly. This is NOT a certification.

Orientation

At our Orientation we will give you an overview of everything Community Television offers. Orientation is no longer REQUIRED to become a member. If you intend to use equipment to produce, you will be required to take classes and be certified. You MUST be a resident of Santa Cruz County. (PLEASE bring exact change or a local check when paying for classes)

Quick & Easy Lighting Class

James Duisenberg, co-founder of Cinemar Film Foundation and video
producer/trainer for PhotoFlex, will be teaching "Quick & Easy Lighting in the Field & Studio". The class will cover documentary lighting, interviews, texture lighting/backdrops, green and blue screen lighting and more. Learn how to bump up the production values of your low-budget project. Limited space.

Studio Audio

Learn the basics you need to know to work as an audio technician on a studio show. Includes microphone set-up and sound board operation.

Studio Camera

Learn how to operate studio cameras.  This class is also required if you want to take the Studio Tricaster Director class.

Studio CG-Tricaster-LiveText

The class will focus on basic operation of the Studio LiveText graphics workstation and LiveText titling software and how to create/save/load Text titler playlists on the TriCaster Broadcast. Includes practice time.
This class is offered FREE to any current member who has taken the Studio CG class in the past.

Studio Director-Tricaster

Studio Director-Tricaster (You must be certified in Studio Camera)
Description: Learn how to use the NewTek TriCaster Broadcast switcher. Class will include: TriCaster video switcher operation, how to import/play digital video files as DDR roll-ins, how to create/save/load Text titler playlists and use of the Audio Mixer and other features and TriCaster tools. Includes practice time.

This class is offered FREE to any current member who has taken the Studio Director class in the past.

MUST be certified in Studio Camera first.

Studio Lighting

Learn lighting for Studio shows, safety, theory, and how to use the instruments, ladder and accessories.

Studio PSA Workshop

This gives studio certified members an opportunity to gain experience and be part of a studio crew while helping local non-profits get their word out. We are always looking for volunteers. Sign up at the front desk or call Helen at ext. 32.
